Upholstery Specialist

The Upholstery Specialist is responsible for performing high-quality upholstery repair, refurbishment, and installation work on business aviation aircraft interiors within a Part-145 approved maintenance organization. The role ensures compliance with aviation regulations (FAA / EASA) while maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship, safety, and aesthetics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, repair, and refurbish aircraft seats and seat components for business aviation aircraft.
  • Perform detailed stitching, sewing, and upholstery of seat covers using leather, fabric, and synthetic materials.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA / EASA regulations and OEM specifications.
  • Read and interpret seat drawings, repair manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Create templates and patterns, and adjust them to meet bespoke seat configurations.
  • Replace foam cushions, including shaping and trimming to design specifications.
  • Operate industrial sewing machines and specialized hand tools.
  • Collaborate with engineers and inspectors during seat retrofits and modifications.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work orders, inspections, and repairs.
  • Support audits and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Provide support to other departments as required, including minor cabin repairs, refurbishment tasks, and assistance during high workload periods.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in aircraft seat maintenance, repair, and refurbishment.
  • Proven experience working on business aviation aircraft interiors.
  • Experience in a Part-145 approved maintenance environment preferred.
  • Exposure to regulatory compliance under EASA and/or FAA.
  • Diploma or certification in Upholstery, Interior Craftsmanship, or related technical field (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Part-145 regulations and OEM maintenance documentation.
  • Training in aviation interior refurbishment (preferred).
  • Strong expertise in industrial sewing, stitching techniques, and upholstery craftsmanship.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and MRO technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of EASA / FAA regulations relevant to aircraft interiors and seat refurbishments.
  • Strong attention to detail and high-quality finishing standards.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
